Investment Committee

It is the responsibility of the Investment Committee at Harpsden Wealth Management to provide ongoing rigorous oversight and input into the investment process. The committee meets bi-monthly and is chaired by Investment Committee Consultant Stephen Renton. Membership of the committee also includes Chief Investment Officer, Ian Brady and Investment Committee Consultant Ian Cooke.

Our financial planners also attend the Investment Committee meetings, so that they can provide clients with a valuable insight into the decision making process and also provide the committee with important client feedback.


Ian Cooke

Investment Committee Consultant

Ian has over 30 years’ fund management experience at leading institutions. He was Head of North American Equities at Kames Capital and was previously at Allied Irish Bank, where he was Head of US Equities and managed c. €1.5 billion of clients’ assets. He was also Head of the High Yield Focus Fund (c. €600 million) and a member of the Investment Policy Committee, managing €10 billion of assets.

Ian is a key member of the Investment Committee at Harpsden Wealth Management. The Committee meets bi-monthly and provides ongoing rigorous oversight and input into the investment process.


Ian Brady

Chief Investment Officer and Director

Ian has over 25 years’ fund management experience with globally renowned institutions.

He has been involved in global asset allocation since 1994 and in the four years to January 2008 was Head of Fund of Funds at Invesco Perpetual, where he was responsible for global asset allocation on over £1.8 billion of assets. Under his stewardship, the Invesco Perpetual World Growth and World Income Funds were both “AA” rated by independent ratings agency Standard & Poor’s. During both 2006 and 2007, Ian was voted one of the most consistent fund managers in the Investment Week/Standard & Poor’s Fund of Funds sector.

Ian left Invesco Perpetual in January 2008 to co-found Harpsden Wealth Management with Jeremy Arthur. In 2012 and 2013 Ian won a prestigious Gold Standard Award for Discretionary Portfolio Management.


Stephen Renton

Investment Committee Consultant

Stephen has had a City career of over 36 years, 24 of which were spent with Morgan Stanley, where he was responsible for advising clients on equity investments in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.

He has also travelled extensively in the USA, visiting companies and meeting their senior management teams, resulting in significant knowledge and experience of the most important economy in the world.

Prior to his career in the City, Stephen worked as a geologist in both the mining and oil industries, giving him a valuable insight into the related commodities.

Stephen is Chair of the Investment Committee at Harpsden Wealth Management and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his role. The Committee meets bi-monthly and provides ongoing rigorous oversight and input into the investment process.

Jeremy Arthur FPFS

Chartered Financial Planner and Director

Jeremy’s varied career has spanned agriculture, commodity trading and wealth management. He has over 22 years’ experience as an independent financial adviser and is passionate about building client relationships and providing a proactive, ongoing service.

Jeremy has extensive experience of advising high net worth clients and trustees, encompassing financial planning, tax planning, investments, financial protection and estate planning. Jeremy co-founded Harpsden Wealth Management with Ian Brady in 2008.


Roland Jones

Chartered Wealth Manager

Roland has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, which he entered immediately after graduating from university.

Roland has been an independent financial adviser for 25 years, with a specialism in pensions, and strongly believes that pensions should be seen as part of holistic financial planning and not in isolation. He has advised many leading professionals, business owners and individual investors on pensions and retirement planning and is widely quoted in the national press on pensions issues.


Tony Shah

International Financial Planner

Tony has worked in the financial services industry for over 40 years and held a number of senior positions with a leading UK-based international adviser and wealth management firm, advising UK and expatriate private clients and trustees.

Throughout his career, Tony has advocated that meeting clients’ lifestyle needs is one of the key elements to successful financial planning and passionately believes that advice should: simplify complex arrangements in plain language; be one element of building a long-term relationship; and be flexible to adapt to changes in circumstances.

Tony is a member of the Personal Finance Society by Diploma and has extensive knowledge on investment, tax mitigation, inheritance and succession planning. He also specialises in the international market and is frequently quoted in the press, as well as being a member of International Adviser’s Intermediary Panel and a Judge for the publication’s annual awards.


Stephen Johnston

Chartered Financial Planner

Steve has over 29 years’ experience in the financial services industry. He initially worked with Lloyds Bank and Standard Life. In 1996 he joined his father’s IFA business, Keith Johnston & Partners Ltd, and over the years he helped build this into an extremely successful practice with a first-class reputation.

In 2005, Steve gained Chartered Financial Planner status and he is a longstanding and committed advocate of raising professional standards throughout the industry. This was further evidenced when Keith Johnston & Partners Ltd was awarded Corporate Chartered Financial Planner status in 2012.

Steve joined Harpsden Wealth Management to allow him to focus his attention on adding value and delivering the best outcomes for each one of his clients.


Mike Heard

Chartered Financial Planner

Mike is a Chartered Financial Planner and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and has over 45 years’ experience in the financial services industry.

He brings to Harpsden extensive and invaluable experience, having managed organisations in the financial services industry from start up to plc. He now focuses on client relationships and strongly believes in the importance of long-term relationships to ensure that clients meet their short, medium and long-term financial objectives.


Erica Brady FCA

Finance Director

Erica qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 with KPMG in Dublin. She was recruited by Commercial Union (now Aviva) and moved to London, working initially on projects, then as Financial Controller of Commercial Union Financial Services. In 1994 she moved to the head office as a Research and Planning Executive in UK Business Planning, until 1996 when she relocated to Scotland.

Erica took a career break until 2008 to bring up her family, while continuing to hold a number of self-employed, part-time and voluntary posts. She has been involved with Harpsden Wealth Management since inception in 2008 – initially as the Company Secretary and Accountant. Erica was appointed Finance Director of Harpsden Wealth Management in 2013.
